About
Paul Johnson is an entrepreneur, former Mayor of Phoenix, and a leading voice for political and economic reform in Arizona. He is the co-founder of Redirect Health and has spent his career building companies focused on lowering costs and expanding access to care. Paul is currently leading a movement to create a new independent political coalition aimed at breaking partisan gridlock and restoring practical problem-solving in government. Through his work, writing, and podcasts, he focuses on advancing innovation, individual responsibility, and a more prosperous future driven by growth and opportunity.
Paul Johnson grew up in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Phoenix, the son of a construction worker and a waitress, watching his parents fight their way into a better life. By his twenties, he wasn’t just studying politics, he was living it—knocking on 90,000 doors, listening to thousands of people, and eventually becoming mayor at 29. But beneath the resume is something more human: a belief that most of what divides us isn’t real, it’s constructed. That belief didn’t come from theory. It came from experience. From conversations with people across every background, from learning to sit in criticism without reacting, and from realizing that the loudest voices in politics rarely represent the majority. The turning point wasn’t winning office, it was recognizing that real leadership meant listening beyond the surface and refusing to reduce people to categories. What emerges is a deeper insight about how we relate to each other in a divided world. Most people aren’t driven by ideology, they’re driven by identity, insecurity, and a need to belong. When we label others, we stop seeing them as human. And when we stop seeing them as human, we lose access to their wisdom, their perspective, and ultimately, the solutions we’re all looking for. The real work isn’t choosing a side. It’s choosing to stay open.
This conversation matters now because we’re living in a moment where it’s easier than ever to divide, label, and react. Paul offers a different path—one rooted in curiosity, responsibility, and a quiet confidence that we’re more connected than we think.
